Big Pharma's only interest in society today is profit. Healthy people are of no use to them whatsoever, after all a healthy person does not need a cure. So bearing this in mind a few adverse reactions here and there do not worry the likes of Glaxo Smith Kline, Merck and Eli Lilly because where there is an adverse reaction there is the chance to prescribe another drug.

Drug Makers Put Children at Risk, Class Says

Drug maker McNeil Consumer Healthcare and parent company Johnson & Johnson were cited for 20 major violations at manufacturing plants for children's pain and allergy medicines, "exposing innocent children ... to dangerous products which never should have been sold," a class claims in Federal Court. The drug makers then compounded the injury by offering consumers "worthless coupons" for replacements of the recalled drugs when and if they arrive on store shelves, the lawsuit states.

Now independent thinkers are considered diseased by psychiatry

Now independent thinkers are considered diseased by psychiatry

Psychiatrists have been working on the fourth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and, in it, they hope to add a whole slew of new psychiatric disorders. Unfortunately, many of these disorders are merely differences in personality and behavior among people.

Our Psychiatric Civilization

It has been a routine week in my clinical and forensic practice. I evaluated a malpractice case involving a woman on the West Coast whose family doctor from a decade earlier kept prescribing Prozac to her for ten years without ever seeing her again. When she ran into emotional difficulty, she called this doctor who simply raised the dose and added a new drug, still without seeing her for a decade. This woman, a respected professional and parent in her community, then landed in a hospital where her adverse drug reaction was mistaken for a mental illness, more psychiatric drugs were added, and she soon killed herself in a most horrendous fashion.

A SHARP increase in the use of electric shock therapy on severely mentally ill Victorians has sparked concerns the controversial psychiatric treatment is being overused.

New figures show almost 20,000 sessions of electroconvulsive therapy, or ECT, were carried out on 1791 patients in Victorian hospitals in the past financial year - a 10 per cent increase on procedures carried out in the previous year.

Data from Victoria's chief psychiatrist's yearly report also reveals that seven children aged 17 or younger were given a total of 46 ECT treatments, while a further 163 were administered to an undisclosed number of 18 to 19-year-olds.

Big Pharma Makes More Money On Kids, Use Of Medications Among The Young Rises

The pharmaceutical industry has found a growing source of sales–the prescription of medicines, primarily used by adults in the past, to children. A portion of the sharp increase in drugs used by children last year was due to H1N1 doses. But, the majority of the “improvement” in sales was because children are being treated for a rising number of chronic illnesses.According to an annual study done by Medco Health Solutions, Inc. Prescription For Disaster (Gary Null)

Prescription for Disaster is an in-depth investigation into the symbiotic relationships between the pharmaceutical industry, the FDA, lobbyists, lawmakers, medical schools, and researchers, and the impact this has on consumers and their health care. During this thorough investigation, we take a close look at patented drugs, why they are so readily prescribed by doctors, the role insurance companies and HMO's play in promoting compliance, and the problem of rising health care costs. We examine the marketing and public relations efforts on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies, including sales reps, medical journals and conferences. Further, we look at alternatives to traditional pharmacology and drug therapy, such as vitamins and nutritional supplements, and why they are often perceived as a competitive threat to the drug manufacturers. Alternative therapies also include diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
