When drugging replaced spanking

When drugging replaced spanking

USA Today recently reported that the number of Americans taking antidepressants is soaring. This could possibly be in direct connection to the controversial TeenScreen survey given to children as young as 9 years old in public schools. TeenScreen has been responsible for policing the mental health of children over the past decade. It is significant that this mental-screening process usurps parental rights over the care of their own children.

Legal, Widespread, and Dangerous: Drugging Kids in Foster Care

Years ago, rubbing a little brandy on the gums of a teething child was thought to soothe and do no lasting harm. Parents of today who disapprove should be aware of just how often children are prescribed powerful, mind-altering medicines.

The Psychiatric Drugging of America's Foster Children

The most vulnerable among us are the littlest victims. Young children, torn from their birth families through various, often unspeakable tragedies. These children end up in state supervised foster care and too often are passed from hand to hand, house to house. There were approximately 662,000 children in foster care in the United States in 2010.

Dark Secrets: Treating Foster Care Children Like Medical Lab Rats

Medical experiments conducted on vulnerable people, people who are unable to give consent or people who have been misled, are always wrong. It is also wrong when there is reason to believe that the person undergoing the experiment faces serious risks as a result. If you put the two together you have something we used to call a crime. In fact, we prosecuted the Nazis for this behavior.

Revised DSM-5 Could Open Up Wider Legal Claims

The American Psychiatric Association is revising its highly influential Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, currently known as DSM-IV (the fifth version will be “DSM-V” or, since a switch to Arabic numbering is planned, “DSM-5″). Nearly 8,000 persons have signed a petition, sponsored by the Society for Humanistic Psychology, Division 32 of the American Psychological Association, which challenges the revision’s proposed widening of the definitions of mental disorder. The letter associated with the petition warns that the revision proposes to lower diagnostic thresholds for many categories of disorder without good reason, as well as introducing new constructs such as “Internet Addiction Disorder” that have “no basis in the empirical literature.” The expansion could lead to inappropriate medical treatment as well as other ill effects.

A study in the journal Pediatrics & Child Health shows that the number of prescriptions jumped 114 per cent across those years, despite most antipsychotics not being cleared for use in Canada among people younger than 17. The drugs are used to offset the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactive disorder, autism, mood disorders, and all manner of behavioural problems in kids as young as six. The Diagnosing and Drugging of 'ADHD' Children -- An American Tragedy Worsens

The diagnosing of millions of children with ADHD in order to medicate them with stimulants and other psychoactive chemicals is an American tragedy, growing into a worldwide catastrophe. Never before in history has a society attempted to deal with its children by drugging a significant portion of them into conformity while failing to meet their needs in the home, school and society. The ethical scientist or physician, the concerned parent or teacher, must feel stricken with grief and dumbfounded that we have allowed the interests of powerful advocacy groups to completely override the interests of our children.

New guidelines for mental illness turn shyness in children from a personality trait into a mental disorder that warrants drug treatment. Now children who sit too quietly or are more withdrawn than their peers will also be targeted with medication for social anxiety disorder or depression.

Health Officials: Antipsychotic Drugs Given to Millions of Children are Very Dangerous

Millions of children have been put on antipsychotic drugs since 2009 alone. The number of children on these pharmaceuticals is becoming so astronomical that the U.S. pediatric health advisers are now speaking out against the known and unknown dangers of such widespread drugging of children nationwide. Doctors have become so eager to prescribe these drugs to patients that half of all citizens in the United States will be diagnosed with a mental illness within their lifetime. What is even more nonsensical about the explosion in prescription antipsychotics is that there is hardly any scientific data to show that the drugs are effective at treating what they claim to, while there is significant amounts of research linking antipsychotics to suicide, diabetes, weight gain, decreased life expectancy, and triggering an array of metabolic conditions.

During a recent conversation with friends and family, the topic of ADHD / ADD came up and I shared my belief that this is not a disease that should result in people being drugged, but instead a personality type (like mine!) that should be honored. My friends and family looked at me stunned. They wondered how an educator like me didn’t know better as this new epidemic was clearly documented as a disease. I then found out that a few of those among us had been drugged or had been responsible for drugging their children. They were offended by my words! Fortunately, I'm used to this.

ADHD—Labeling normal kids "mentally ill"

ADHD is a bogus mental "disorder" based only on a checklist of behaviors. There are no medical tests to prove any child has ADHD, yet more than 4.5 million kids have been diagnosed and put on drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall and Concerta, which the U.S. DEA places in the same highly addictive category of drugs as cocaine, morphine and opium. According to the Center for Disease Control, boys are much more likely to be diagnosed "ADHD" than girls. The "checklist" for ADHD could fit any normal child and literally includes such ridiculous criteria as " runs about or climbs excessively in situations when it is not appropriate" (we are talking about KIDS here... right?) " is often 'on the go "acts as if driven by a motor" "blurts out answers" "is easily distracted" " loses pencils or toys" "often doesn't seem to listen"

Risperdal drug maker faces $1B in lawsuits, yet mother charged for refusing use on child

What irony. Detroit mother, Maryanne Godboldo, was just charged with child neglect for refusing to obey a Child Protective Services order to give her daughter Risperdal, a powerful psychoactive drug. Meanwhile federal and multiple state prosecutors are suing Johnson & Johnson for deceptively marketing the drug – including mismarketing its use on children – and hiding dangerous adverse effects. J&J now faces a potential $1 billion in damages.

Drugged kids aren’t all right

A most alarming of the recent stories in the media about the behavioral plight of America’s young children came in the form of a “Today Show” segment last week about the “No Kids Allowed Movement.” Many of us were unaware there’s a movement afoot by consumers fed up with misbehaving kids that has led some airlines, restaurants and theaters to ban children under age 6 from their establishments.

Big Pharma’s Push to Drug Children: the Last Marketing Frontier

Big Pharma’s Push to Drug Children: the Last Marketing Frontier

It has long been evident that “Big Pharma’ has saturated their primary marketplace with their dangerous and toxic drugs. They have drugged adults, seniors, people with supposed psychological disorders–and now the only way to increase their sales share is to take business away from another drug company or to find a new disease not served by current medicines, not an easy task when all the other manufacturers are trying to do the same thing. Now, however, the marketing geniuses at the pharmaceutical companies have found a huge, lucrative new and relatively untapped market: children.

Detroit mother Maryanne Godboldo found in neglect for refusing to medicate daughter with psychiatric drugs

“The court system in Detroit appears to be trying to make an example out of Godboldo by sending a message: “Don’t resist tyranny.” When the state orders you to drug your children, don’t even think about saying no! If you do, armed SWAT teams will raid your house, CPS will kidnap your child, and you will be brought up on felony charges for resisting.”

Mom's questioning meds for treating ADHD

My oldest was recently diagnosed (in June) with ADHD(hyperactivity/impulsivity) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. He was always a challenge for us to parent. My hope was that his behavior was just a phase and that he would gow out of it. But here I am years later, and his behavior is still a huge concern.

Blaming the Parents

See, if you were the perfect parent, your kid would have no issues apparently.

How Empathic Parenting Is the Antithesis of Narcissism

If you had a narcissistic parent or if you just live in this narcissistic culture today, you may be wondering a lot about parenting and how to do things differently so you can raise a healthy, emotionally sound child. When raised in narcissistic families, children grow up with an "empty tank" because their emotional needs were not met. They may have had a roof over their heads, food to eat, and clothes to wear, but emotionally they feel orphaned and alone. Their most precious inner emotional life was not encouraged to grow and mature. Feelings were not validated or acknowledged and the result is growing up with nagging self-doubt and a fragile sense of self.

Antidepressants Often Prescribed Without A Diagnosis

Antidepressants are the third most common type of medication prescribed in the U.S., with $10 billion a year in sales. Nearly three out of four of those prescriptions are written by non-psychiatric providers (many of them primary care physicians). A study in the journal Health Affairs reports that a growing number of patients receiving antidepressants from a doctor who isn’t a psychiatrist aren’t given an accompanying psychiatric diagnosis.

Does can be strike an individual as strange that suddenly a enormous percentage with otherwise normal and healthy and balanced children think you are diagnosed having these terrible diseases and schools and their linked medical counterparts tend to be prescribing all types of strange sound drugs to help “fix” these problems?

The mass overmedication of foster children with psychiatric drugs

For a long list of reasons, the day-to-day life of a child in foster care can be challenging. Foster parents are often stretched thin and overburdened, foster children often wrestle with emotional issues that can go misdiagnosed, unrecognized or misunderstood, and qualified medical care for this vulnerable population is constantly in short supply.

Our pediatrician gave my daughter the wrong vaccine

Our pediatrician gave my daughter the wrong vaccine

We'd left the pediatrician's office a mere two hours before the call came. On a recent sunny, summer afternoon, I'd brought my two daughters in for their annual physicals. They'd been weighed and measured and prodded and had blood drawn and received their shots and been handed lollipops at the end. We'd discovered my 11-year-old has grown 3 inches in the past year; my 7-year-old has grown 2. Their vision and hearing and vitals are all good. Two apparently clean bills of health -- it was all a family could wish for. Their blood and urine tests, meanwhile, likely hadn't even left for the lab yet. So why then was our doctor calling us back so soon? "I'm so sorry to tell you this," she said. "The nurse gave your child the wrong vaccine." At the end of the visit, my soon-to-be middle-schooler Lucy, my beautiful Harry Potter obsessive, was supposed to get the meningitis vaccine. Instead, for reasons still not fully clear to me, the nurse saw a preteen female in the chair, reached for the HPV vaccine Gardasil, and injected her.

The DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is the world widely recognized classificatory system of psychiatric disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). It is currently under major revision; the release version DSM-5 is expected in May 2013. The “psychiatrist´s bible“ has overwhelming impact: Inclusion in the DSM carries weight far beyond the psychiatrist’s office. It has major influence on whether insurers will cover therapy for a condition, whether research will be pursued for a specific disease or whether the health technology assessment agencies will approve medications that can be marketed for it.

Cannabis is better for ADD and ADHD in kids than Ritalin

This is Dr. Claudia Jensen who appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC on Apr. 22, 2004. She was a practicing Pediatrician in Ventura, California and an instructor at the USC Keck School of Medicine. She was lost to breast cancer on Sep. 15, 2007. R.I.P.

Cannabis, demonetized in the 30s under the name marijuana since it wasn't understood back then, is actually not a narcotic. It produces no physical addiction and is extraordinarily non-toxic, meaning that you can't have a lethal overdose of it as you can with nearly all other drugs, even over-the-counter ones. So cannabis is actually more accurately classified as a herb, which is what the plant is botanically.

This herb has been found to be surprisingly effective as a natural treatment for many medical conditions as an alternative to pharmaceutical chemical drugs with serious side-affects and the significant stresses that they put on the body.

Instead of using powerful psychotropic drugs, cannabis herb has been shown to be more effective in many cases for treating Attention Deficit Disorder (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder).

Oral doses and not smoking is recommended for children and teenagers. This way there's absolutely no health concerns and the medicinal effects will last much longer delivered this way. A single dose with breakfast will last throughout the school day.

Stealth Vaccine Laws Allow Children to Consent to Vaccines

Stealth Vaccine Laws Allow Children to Consent to Vaccines

A current California bill, AB 499, would “allow a minor who is 12 years of age or older to consent to medical care related to the prevention of a sexually transmitted disease.”[1] That is, children as young as 12 will be able to get a Gardasil or other STD vaccine without their parents’ knowledge or consent if this bill passes. Disturbingly, North Carolina has a much broader child consent law already on the books: “Any minor may give effective consent . . . for medical health services for the prevention . . . of venereal disease and other [reportable] diseases…”[2] I call these laws “Stealth Vaccine Laws” because they provide for the administration of vaccines without the word “vaccine” or “immunization” appearing in the law. Thus, they may slip under the radar of anti-vaccine activists doing electronic searches for vaccine bills and laws using those terms.

How Children Get ADHD Was Once Thought To Be The Flu

ADHD Drug Side Effects- Looking At The Valid And Safer Alternatives.

by Robert William Locke

There is a lot of concern nowadays about ADHD drug side effects. This is because they are powerful mind altering drugs and their effects on the child's whole development is causing a lot of worry and angst. Others say that only about 30% of children on these drugs cannot stand the side effects but that seems to be a very high percentage to me.

Over 5 million children in the USA and about 20 million kids worldwide are now branded with the label ADHD. They seem to have attention problems, are hyperactive and are also disruptive which, according to the ADHD deniers, they are just being typical children. As the vast majority of these children are on prescribed drugs, we can see why there is so much worry and concern.

Those who insist that there is a biological/neurological disorder which must be medicated, represent the other extreme view. These are usually in the pay of the drug companies and include teachers, doctors and parents too who are recruited to appear on Facebook and pretend that they are bona fide parents of children with ADHD.

The pharmaceutical industry is so afraid of the backlash from worried parents that they have even paid for research which sets out to discredit the homeopathic and herbal remedies. It is not surprising really, given that there are millions of dollars involved.

What are the ADHD drug side effects?

These range from sleepiness during the day and then sleepless nights. There is also a negative effect on appetite and there are reports of stunted growth among these children. There may be nausea, psychotic episodes, suicidal thinking, cardiac events and also depression. Some children feel zombie like and cannot wait to get off these drugs.

ADHD drug side effects may also involve an addiction for substance abuse given that these drugs are basically amphetamines.

In a damning report which runs to over 700 pages, the Drug Effectiveness Review of Oregon State University actually did over 2,000 studies on whether the ADHD drug side effects were worth the risk. They found that they were not worth very much at all and there did not seem to be any conclusive evidence that they actually helped at all!

Basically they were not helpful in the long run and were just about managing the symptoms, which is what the drug companies claim. But is that enough? Can that justify drugging the nation's children?

Other studies have shown that the effects of ADHD drugs wear off after about three years and the child is put on stronger medication or just left to cope.

In conclusion, we can only say parents should read more and find out what the alternatives to the side effects of ADHD drugs are. There is a very simple answer which I have explained on my website. Why not check it out?

Love, cherish and protect your child. Experts now tell us that natural ADHD treatments . combined with child behavior modification techniques is by far the most effective ADHD treatment. Are antidepressants over-prescribed to young people?

In the Spring Issue of McClung’s Magazine, Julianna McDermott examines how young Canadian women are being prescribed powerful antidepressant drugs in record numbers. She discovers that family doctors, who most patients turn to, don’t always have the time or the training to properly diagnose depression. They spend only an average of ten minutes with patients who complain of depression, but 80 per cent of those patients walk away with prescriptions for Selective Seretonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI). SSRIs are widely believed to be effective treatment for depression, but they have serious side-effects, including an increased risk of suicide in young people. Here is an except from McDermott’s feature article Chemicals for Candy.

ADHD Diagnosis, Treatment Differ Across the Globe

In Israel, highly active children are well tolerated in the classroom, making it difficult to distinguish high activity from attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) manifestation. In Brazil, light physical punishment is considered by a large number of teachers to be “therapeutic,” and physical exercise is considered a viable alternative to medication for children with ADHD. In Canada, health professionals view ADHD as an impairing, often lifelong disorder that requires careful assessment and multimodal intervention.

Pharmaceutical companies have recently paid out the largest legal settlements in U.S. history — including the largest criminal fines ever imposed on corporations — for illegally marketing antipsychotic drugs. The payouts totaled more than $5 billion. But the worst costs of the drugs are being borne by the most vulnerable patients: children and teens in psychiatric hospitals, foster care and juvenile prisons, as well as elderly people in nursing homes. They are medicated for conditions for which the drugs haven't been proven safe or effective — in some cases, with death known as a known possible outcome.

ADHD Becoming More Prevalent Among Adults

ADHD has traditionally been considered a childhood disorder, but over the last two decades, researchers have found that the disorder often persists into adulthood. According to the Los Angeles Times, psychiatrists are in the process of rewriting the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" (DSM) textbook and have submitted a proposal to the American Psychiatric Association that could make it easier to identify older teens and adults with the disorder. Prevalence rates are expected to increase as a result. Currently, the DSM describes ADHD as a disorder of children. According to Dr. Steven Cuffe of the University of Florida, the proposed changes to the DSM will describe what ADHD looks like in older teens and adults, the Times reports. Children with ADHD exhibit such symptoms as failing to complete schoolwork and being disruptive in the classroom. Symptoms in adults with ADHD can include trouble meeting deadlines at work and interrupting someone who’s speaking. According to Cuffe, hyperactivity exhibited in children is usually reflected as restless feelings in adults who have ADHD, although problems with attention tend to persist into adulthood. The number of adults expected to be diagnosed after the proposed changes go into effect is not yet known, but it’s likely that number will go up. A few years ago, ADHD was said to affect an estimated three to five percent of children. That figure is now up to six to eight percent.

How To Brainwash A Nation

This amazing interview was done back in 1985 with a former KGB agent who was trained in subversion techniques. He explains the 4 basic steps to socially engineering entire generations into thinking and behaving the way those in power want them to. It's shocking because our nation has been transformed in the exact same way, and followed the exact same steps.
