More Americans are being prescribed multiple psychiatric medications for use at the same time, but most people diagnosed with recent depression don't get adequate treatment, according to two independent studies published Monday.

My daughter is living proof that they over-medicate, misdiagnose children in the system. While in the system they said she was out of control put her on Lithium + Abilify + Serequel (literally everything)they could put their hands on. She was only 12 dwhen it started. 15 when returned. The only reason we have her home is that my tribe intervened, as she was being abused in the placement she was in. She was returned home. A local, experienced and very gutsy psychiatrist started weening her off. She was having life threatening reactions to these meds. She now is off all meds under dr. supervision (if I tried it alone-cps would say I was abusing a mentally ill person-they did that one). Happy to report is a sassy,outgoing, rapidly growing 17 year old. I know there are masses of children out there on meds, what to do????
